The XVIII Commonwealth Games are due to open in Melbourne this March, with day 1 of the swimming competition on the 16th of March.

Hannah Miley is due to travel with the Scottish team on 03 March arriving in the village on 04 March.

Scottish Swimming named 21 aquatic athletes in the 166- strong squad, chosen to represent Scotland at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne next month.

Included in the line up are Commonwealth silver medallist Gregor Tait (City of Cardiff), World Championship bronze medallist Caitlin McClatchey (Loughborough University), Olympian Todd Cooper (Stirling) & Hannah Miley (Garioch).

Scotland had set its tightest selection criteria ever in order to produce a squad packed with serious medal contenders and swimmers had to clock a Commonwealth Qualifying time based upon the eight fastest time at the last Commonwealth Games in 2002. To secure their ticket to Melbourne up to three swimmers per event could be selected, but only if they achieved the qualifying time.

Hannah secured her 400IM place in the Commonwealth Team with a fine swim at the Scottish Nationals 2005. Hannah holds both the Scottish Senior &Junior Records for the 400IM (4min 47.01secs).

In the SC 400IM Hannah is currently ranked 6th in Europe and 14th in the World (4min 37.12secs a British Junior Record).

Following the announcement, Chief Executive, Ashley Howard, said, “To get 21 athletes in the squad for the Games is a remarkable achievement. I congratulate the athletes and their coaches for producing such inspiring results over the course of this year. We know that Melbourne will be tough, but our athletes will have the best possible preparation in the coming months and will rise to the challenge. We wish them all a very successful Games."

Hannah's swimming schedule at the games is as follows:

Day #1            16th March                  200IM

Day #3            18th March                  100Fly

Day #6           21st March                 400IM
