DOUBLE DUTCH GOLD FOR MILEY

What better way to blow the cobwebs off after travelling half way around the world than to charge to double Gold in the Individual Medley events in the Dutch Open at Eindhoven this weekend. After despatching the opposition in the 200 metre event Hannah stormed to a new British Long Course 400IM record beating the opposition by a full 10 metres. Hannah also gained the 50 & 100m Free Club Records.

Jonas Whitehead, also competing at Eindhoven had some blistering swims and managed to take 7 club records. Well done to Team Garioch!

Day 2

Hannah Miley also medalled for the second time in two days when she took the silver in a New British Record time of 4:33.00 in the 400m Individual Medley (previous record set in 2004 was 4:35.55). Gold went to Stephanie Rice of Australia in 4:32.63 and Julie Hjorth-Hounsen of Denmark took the bronze in 4:36.32.

Day 1

Hannah Miley (Garioch) bettered the Scottish Record for the 200m IM twice in the heats and final and swam 2:11.92 (Hannah's previous record was 02:12.85) to take fourth place with gold going to Stephanie Rice of Australia in 2:10.88.

2007 SNAGS - So Now All Greatly Shattered!!!!

April 12^th to 15^th 2007 and another milestone comes and goes. Upping the ante again we were looking to make a mark on the national scene this year. Looking at last years report and the year on year progression, last year 11 swimmers this year 19, last year no finals/medals, this year 6 Gold 2 Silver and 8 different swimmers (Hannah, Alastair, Rachael, Orla, Greig, Phoebe, Jonas and Rosie) all making finals. Now next year………..

Hannah's 400m IM time would have placed her in the Silver place at the World Championships in Melbourne!

SIMPLY THE BEST
Fantastic swim by Hannah Miley smashes, nukes, obliterates and any other expletive you can think of, British 400IM long course record (give us a pool!!!), the new mark an incredible 4:40.07, well done Hannah absolutely awesome. Finals winning time was 4:43.50, which, given the swim in the heats on Monday was also an amazing swim.

North District Championships - Inverness 03-04/03/2007

TIRED BUT WORTH IT

March 3^rd and 4^th 2007 came around for Garioch swimmers with a challenge. A trek up to the areas only 8 lane pool to compete in the district Age Group Championships and bring back some metal to the shadows of Bennachie. The training schedule this year has been ramped up shifting that ubiquitous bar ever higher as each individual sets themselves new targets to achieve and coaches and club volunteers endeavour to keep up the support. Did we doubt for a minute the pride we’d have in our swimmers by the end of the weekend of course not.

How do you start a meet? With a Scottish (and district) record isn’t a bad way and Hannah threw in a stunning swim in the 200Back senior event to deliver just that in the first Garioch entered event of the day. Indeed it was to be a weekend of tumbling records, tally for all events was 38club records (Yes that’s right its not a typo THIRTY EIGHT), 6 district records (Subject to ratification in case you didn’t catch that), and 2 National records (200IM 2:12.85 and 200 Fly 2:13.64).

Hannah won the 400m Freestyle in 4:17.62 and the 200 IM in a time of 2:17.62, only 0.41 secs outside her own record. What an event she has had !!

MILEY SHINES TO SET NEW BRITISH RECORD

Hannah Miley continues to impress as part of the British squad competing in Eindhoven this weekend with a British Record in the Women’s 400m Individual Medley.

The Garioch teenager took gold at the Dutch World Championships Trials (50m) in 4:44.21 to beat the previous standard set by Becky Cooke earlier this year of 4:44.60.

Hannah also managed phenomenal PB swims in her 200m Freestyle smashing her previous time by nearly 2 secomds finishing in 2:01.78 and 200m Backcrawl taking a second off at 2:15.84
