PROGRESS!!!!!

Where are we now, where were we a year ago and where are we going. I guess the answer to these if the swims this weekend were anything to go by are definitely on the right path. Smiling faces tumbling times and a hatful of finals in sprints and placings in the distance events all indicated a great weekends swimming and in my opinion a successful meet. We had the objective and met it.

Many thanks go to the organisers in district and I’ve got to keep chewing the bone about the entry procedure but I think we’ll get there on that one with increased involvement from ourselves in the process.

I’m not going to run through the placings or PBs here but these can be accessed in the meet results document hereon the website so take a look for yourselves and remember the previous distance swims aren’t that old so seconds off in the hundreds is no mean achievement!!!!!!

A total of 18 club records came tumbling down. Record breakers over the weekend were as follows:- A Bryce 1, G Rennie 3, D Smith 3, J Whitehead 3, R Harrison 2, M Smith 4 and E Jones 2.

Weekend started wet and miserable as we arrived at our “luxury” trailer park to be greeted at 8pm with a no heat. Caravan fixed at 24:15 but obviously not the best prep for a hard weekends swimming.

The mix of distance and sprint events proved challenging on the energy stores, though swimmers rose to said challenge admirably with a certain young Mr Bryce closing in nicely on the 50metre district Freestyle record, next time out maybe??? Keep up the awesome work Andrew.

Great dancing guys n gals, to any neutral person you must have looked to be the most fun bunch of folk in town. Can’t say it often enough but we are proud of you.

Obviously a big thanks to the coaching and marshalling staff who got our swimmers into right places at right times in right frame of mind. Job well done hope you all enjoyed it. Thanks also to the STOs without whom we would not be able to compete. Spread the word its not onerous, gives you a seat (at least timekeeping!) and you even get fed and watered throughout!!!!!

Everyone got back down the road safely and despite my best efforts I was not able to beat Tom T by getting home before the results were up on the district website so a big thank-you there to some of the unsung heroes who make it possible to compete at these meets and enable us to quickly analyse the performance.

Cheers Folks and On On
