SQUAD MEMBERS

A list of squad members has been added to the coaching page.

PRESENTATION EVENING REPORT

On 22 August there was a Start of Season Presentation Evening to give members the chance to hear about plans and discuss opportunities within the club.

The meeting was attended by over 70 members from all sections of the club (competitive, recreational, specials, masters, teachers, parents, and all!).

After a welcoming opening address from Club President Pat Maher, Head Coach Patrick Miley then gave a presentation with a breakdown of current practices and expectations within the club.  He also explored pathways to World Class Potential and beyond from the very beginning of club level swimming.  For more details see Coaching or take the quick route here

Squads Manager Lynne Walster, (who has taken on this role in addition to her primary role as a club coach) outlined the functions of Squads Manager and explained club expectations of squad swimmers.

Anita Weir then unfolded some of the mysteries of the treasurer’s role by explaining how charging is managed and breaking down some of the elements that cause confusion about bills.  For Anita's financial tips see here

All in all a very informative and enjoyable presentation, and then we all went swimming!!!!

NATIONALS

Many top swimmers from across the UK took part in the Scottish National and Age Group finals at Tollcross, Glasgow from 18 - 22 June 2003.  This presented the younger age group the opportunity to see the stars in action close up and in some cases compete with them.

It was an excellent few days, made all the more so by some great perfomances by the local South Aberdeenshire Swim Team (SAS) who came second overall in the team competition.

Once again Garioch team members played their part and in the Age Group section Hannah Miley took two National titles in the 400m IM and 200m butterfly. In addition to these golds she took silver medals in the 800m free; 400m free; 200m back and 200m IM and bronze in the 100m fly and 200m free.

The team relay events are a major contributor to the points totals and Hannah was joined by Garioch team mate Barbara Hockridge in winning the silver medal in the 4x50m Medley relay.

Times from the Nationals are available at Swim scotland but for Garioch times only see here.
